The audience can consume music videos in many ways, this depense on how the video is seen, for example on social media, this is done mainly through the use of smart phones, being able to download the Youtube app and watch any music video the public want whenever they like, due to how much technology has developed over the years and being able to see videos through smart phones, it has created an impact on the amount of views the artist gets on their videos and the profit in which they make, this has changed quite dramatically through recent years.
Main:
1981- The first music channel which was ever created was called 'MTV' which occurred on the 1st August, the original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by television personalities known as "video jockeys," In its early years, MTV's main target demographic were young adults, but today, MTV's programming is primarily targeted at teenagers.
Youtube- The most watched music videos:
Psy's song, 'Gangnam Style' is the most watched music video on youtube of all time, receiving over 2.3 billion views since it was uploaded July 15, 2012. This was due to the fact it was filmed in China, with the whole of the Chinese population giving their support, the song then broke through into other countries such as the UK and USA. This is due to the fact the song is highly entertaining and catching, having an easy dance routine that the audience can easily join in with.
